One can only assume the agenda includes a PowerPoint titled 'Why Your Neighborhood Watch Needs a Drone Strike Capability' or perhaps a live demonstration of how the new armored personnel carrier can navigate Montecito's tightest cul-de-sacs. Our beloved local rag, the Santa Barbara Independent, dutifully reported this thrilling news, no doubt envisioning endless parade floats for the next Old Spanish Days.

We here at The Whipping Post understand that government agencies occasionally need to look like they're doing something, anything, besides balancing their checkbooks. But when the local constabulary rolls out the heavy artillery to discuss 'reports' and 'community,' one has to wonder if they're preparing for a particularly rowdy pickleball tournament or if they've just really leaned into the spirit of 'Mogadishu by the Sea.' Perhaps they'll even hand out complimentary bulletproof vests with every annual report. Gotta protect those property values, after all.
