SHERIFF'S OFFICE GETS AWARD FOR 'PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE' AS CRIMINALS STILL HAVE GUNSCrime Blotter
Noozhawk · The Whipping Post · NO.969 · PANEL 5/6 · SB-6FE

Noozhawk reports the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has been lauded by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (read: Sacramento bureaucracy) for its 'Outstanding Contributions to Gun Violence Prevention.' One can only imagine the arduous process involved in collecting a participation trophy from an administration more interested in photo ops than actually addressing the revolving door of justice.

While law-abiding citizens continue to face the bureaucratic hurdles of exercising their Second Amendment rights, our elected officials and their myriad agencies are busy patting themselves on the back for 'preventing' violence. Perhaps they've discovered a secret stash of 'thoughts and prayers' that magically disarm criminals, because actual enforcement against repeat offenders seems less en vogue than collecting accolades for vague 'efforts.'

This is the kind of feel-good, virtue-signaling theater that passes for governance these days. The 'gun violence prevention' industrial complex, primarily staffed by those who believe banning plastic straws will save the planet, now extends its tentacles to our local law enforcement. It's a convenient distraction from the real challenges of rampant shoplifting, smash-and-grab robberies, and the general breakdown of order that Democrat policies have ushered in across the state. Expect more awards, fewer consequences for actual criminals, and a continuing effort to disarm those who simply wish to protect themselves.

Here's the angle Noozhawk missed: This award isn't about public safety; it's about validating a failed, anti-Second Amendment agenda propagated by Sacramento. It’s an exercise in political self-congratulation, ensuring the county’s progressive establishment can point to 'successful programs' while sidestepping the inconvenient truth that actual gun violence, committed by actual criminals, persists despite their best-intentioned, entirely ineffective 'efforts.' It’s a win for the bureaucracy, not for the taxpayer.
