It seems the Ivory Tower's latest crisis is the rather inconvenient reality that federal agents occasionally enforce federal laws. According to a recent lament republished by Noozhawk – a publication seemingly intent on covering every hangnail of California's progressive angst – community colleges across the state are in a tizzy because ICE dared to, well, *exist* near their hallowed halls. Administrators, who otherwise couldn't find a spare syllabus if it hit them in the face, are wringing their hands over what they can 'do' when the feds show up, as if the law is merely a suggestion.

One can almost hear the pearl-clutching from the dean's office: 'But... but he had a semester left of underwater basket weaving! Doesn't that count for something?' Apparently, even in 2026, with a strong, borders-first administration in the White House, California's higher education establishment still clings to the delusion that campus grounds are sovereign nations, immune to the realities of national security and proper legal immigration. It’s almost as if they believe 'sanctuary campus' is a legally binding term, rather than a performative political slogan.

Let’s be clear: the 'alarm' isn't about safety or education; it's about the erosion of their self-proclaimed moral authority. They want to dictate who can and cannot be questioned, creating a parallel legal system where federal officers are treated like unwelcome door-to-door salesmen. Perhaps these highly-paid bureaucrats should spend less time crafting hand-wringing press releases and more time advising their students to navigate the proper, legal channels for residency, or, failing that, not to break the law in the first place. But that would require a dose of accountability, which, like fiscal responsibility, is anathema in today's progressive academic circles.
