OPEN BORDERS BRIGADE DEMANDS SHERIFF SERVE THEIR AGENDA, NOT THE LAW

Left-wing 'activists' descend on annual TRUTH Act sideshow, insisting local law enforcement prioritize feelings over federal statutes, because what's a little sovereignty among friends?

Noozhawk dutifully reported this week on the perennial hand-wringing found at the annual TRUTH Act forum, where a dedicated cohort of 'activists' once again lectured the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on how to properly ignore federal immigration law. Apparently, ensuring that illegal aliens with criminal records are transferred to federal authorities rather than simply released onto our streets is now considered an act of 'collaboration' rather than, say, basic public safety.

These self-appointed arbiters of justice, fresh from their latest strategy session on 'abolishing everything,' seem to believe that the Sheriff's primary role is to act as a concierge service for anyone who crosses the border, regardless of their legal standing or past transgressions. It’s a remarkable display of progressive logic: demand transparency from law enforcement, then condemn them for transparently cooperating with federal partners to remove criminal elements. Who needs a secure border when you can have a forum?

The irony is, of course, lost on the usual suspects. While they decry the 'trauma' of federal immigration enforcement, they conveniently overlook the trauma inflicted upon legal residents and citizens by individuals who should have been deported long ago. Yet, our Sheriff’s Office is expected to unilaterally disregard federal mandates to appease a vocal minority who seem to think our laws are merely suggestions, especially when it comes to immigration. Perhaps these 'activists' should spend less time demanding the Sheriff abandon his sworn duty and more time advocating for actual legal pathways, or better yet, secure borders.

But that would require acknowledging reality, and in the progressive fantasy land reported by the dailies, reality is just an inconvenience. Rest assured, while the TRUTH Act circus continues to play to an empty tent, the Sheriff’s Office will, and should, continue to uphold the rule of law, no matter how much the 'activists' stamp their feet and demand a different tune. Because some people actually believe in borders and laws, and thankfully, our local law enforcement isn't completely tone-deaf to that truth.
