MEASLES MYSTERY: WHY ARE LIBERALS SO SHOCKED BY THE RETURN OF THE PAST?

The Santa Barbara Independent, in its infinite wisdom, recently clucked like a worried hen over a mere 52 measles cases statewide in the last six months. They even trotted out a local doctor to dutifully remind everyone that vaccines are a 'thing.' Thanks, Captain Obvious! What they somehow failed to connect in their usual labyrinthian editorial process is how these entirely predictable outbreaks are a direct consequence of the very same progressive, open-door border policies they championed with such gusto.

One doesn't need a medical degree from UC Berkeley – or even a participation trophy from UCSB – to understand that uncontrolled, unvetted ingress from countries where vaccination protocols are…let's be generous and say 'less robust'…is a recipe for reintroducing diseases we thought were relics of Grandma's era. But don't expect the Left Coast media to print that inconvenient truth. They'd rather wring their hands over a few dozen cases of measles than admit their ideological purity tests have real-world, public health consequences.

While they're busy clutching pearls and pushing for more 'community outreach' (read: taxpayer-funded lectures), the rest of us are left wondering when the Independent will muster the journalistic courage to ask the obvious question: Who benefits from an endless stream of unvetted newcomers, and what exactly are the hidden costs beyond overcrowded hospitals and newly fashionable childhood diseases? It seems for some, the ideological high ground is far more important than common sense or public safety. Perhaps a quick trip to the border might illustrate the point better than a stern lecture from a doctor whose institution probably benefits from every new case.
