The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
LEFTISTS RALLY FOR 'GOOD TROUBLE,' FORGET WHO'S IN CHARGE NOW
Santa Barbara's usual suspects gathered by the harbor, clutching their pearls and protesting a White House that's been busy making America great again for two years already.

The DispatchThe Santa Barbara Independent dutifully reported on a recent waterfront gathering, where local luminaries and professional hand-wringers channeled their inner revolutionaries. Dubbed a 'Good Trouble' rally, apparently, the hundreds (and we use that term loosely, probably including several confused tourists) who showed up were celebrating the 'legacy' of someone or other, all while supposedly taking a stand against the current Trump administration. It's almost sweet, really, how committed they are to protesting a fantasy, two full years after President Trump returned to the Oval Office. Did they misplace their calendars somewhere between their artisanal sourdough starter and their organic kale smoothies?
One can only imagine the sheer bewilderment of these activists, still shaking their fists at the specter of a past presidency, utterly oblivious to the economic boom and renewed national pride happening around them. Perhaps their 'good trouble' involves protesting property values they can no longer afford, thanks to the very policies they typically cheer. The Independent's breathless coverage painted a picture of righteous indignation, but we suspect most of the 'hundreds' were just enjoying the ocean breeze and a chance to air out their vintage protest signs – probably printed on recycled paper, naturally.
Indeed, the only 'trouble' brewing seems to be the cognitive dissonance radiating from our local progressive echo chamber. While the rest of America is getting back to work and enjoying true prosperity under President Trump's leadership, Santa Barbara's dedicated activists are still fighting yesterday's battles. It makes you wonder if they secretly miss having something to be truly upset about, now that the adults are in charge. Maybe next time they can rally for lower gas prices, though that might require admitting who's actually responsible for them.
