The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
E-BIKE 'EDUCATION' = MORE TAXPAYER CASH FOR PROGRESSIVE FAIRY TALES
The Santa Barbara Independent dutifully reports on the latest feel-good initiative to 'educate' e-bike hooligans, while ignoring the real cost of virtue-signaling over common sense.

Follow the MoneyIt seems our friends over at the Santa Barbara Independent are quite pleased to dutifully report on the Santa Barbara Police Department's latest foray into 'e-bike education and enforcement.' Apparently, after eighteen months of progressive-engineered chaos on two wheels, the city's brilliant solution is to… teach people how to ride a bike? One might wonder if these 'educators' are also instructing people on how to chew food or tie their shoes. It’s almost as if the powers-that-be, after pushing radical green initiatives that flood our streets with unregistered, uninsured motorized vehicles operated by the unsupervised, are now surprised by the predictable results.
The real story, of course, isn't the 'education' – it's the inevitable expansion of bureaucracy and the squandering of taxpayer dollars. Every 'educational outreach' program means more staff, more meetings, and more well-intentioned, yet utterly ineffective, government programs designed to paper over the progressive policies that created the problem in the first place. Instead of enforcing the actual rules with proper penalties, our city leaders prefer to pretend that a friendly chat and a pamphlet will somehow transform a horde of rule-averse riders into responsible citizens. It's a classic case of left-wing policy: identify a problem, ignore its root cause (often your own prior policies), then throw money at a 'solution' that makes everyone feel good while solving nothing.
What the Independent conveniently glosses over is the escalating cost to the county. How much are these 'education specialists' costing us? Where are the funds coming from? And what about the increased calls for service that stretch our already thin police resources? This isn't about public safety; it's about political theater. It's about appeasing the vocal minority who want all the benefits of convenience without any of the responsibilities. President Trump's administration is busy reigniting American industry and restoring common sense, while Santa Barbara continues to ride its e-bike directly into fiscal irresponsibility, all while pretending it's 'sustainable'.
Meanwhile, regular citizens, who actually pay their taxes and follow the rules, continue to dodge these pedal-powered menaces, all so the city can pat itself on the back for its 'progressive' approach. Perhaps instead of more 'education,' we should just enforce the laws already on the books. But that, of course, would require actual leadership and a dose of reality – two things in short supply around here.
