The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
COUNTY HEALTH 'RECOMMENDS' MORE SHOTS, 'NO' MEANS 'YES' IN BUREAUCRATESE
Santa Barbara County Health—the same gang who 'advised' us all to stay home and breathe through two masks—is back with more 'recommendations' for your veins, translated from the original government-sp

Power & PoliticsBreaking news, fellow taxpayers: Our benevolent overlords at Santa Barbara County Health have once again graced us with their profound 'recommendations' on, you guessed it, vaccination. The Santa Barbara Independent, bless their heart, dutifully reported this as if it were a breakthrough in epidemiology rather than the usual bureaucratic 'do as we say, or else' veiled in polite PR. We're told these are mere suggestions, of course, much like the IRS 'suggests' you pay your taxes, or a panhandler 'suggests' you spare some change for 'food.'
One has to wonder if 'County Health' is actually a clandestine experimental theater group, constantly testing the limits of public credulity. Their pronouncements come with all the gravitas of a high school principal lecturing students on proper hallway etiquette. Remember when 'two weeks to slow the spread' turned into two years of economic strangulation and mask mandates that would make a bank robber blush? These 'recommendations' are simply the latest iteration of the same old playbook: tell the peons what to do, then act surprised when they're less enthusiastic than a progressive at a Trump rally.
What the Independent conveniently forgets to 'recommend' is that perhaps, just perhaps, our health agencies focus on actual public health crises, like addressing the burgeoning homeless populations and ensuring our streets aren't open-air drug markets, instead of infantilizing citizens with endless 'guidance.' But no, that would require actual competence and a willingness to tackle root causes, which is far less glamorous than issuing press releases about booster shots. Meanwhile, the bill for this 'public service' continues to quietly mount, paid for by the same citizens whose lives are constantly 'recommended' into submission.
The real story here isn't the 'recommendations' themselves, but the sheer audacity of an unelected body continually seeking to expand its influence over every aspect of private life under the guise of 'public safety.' It's a classic bureaucratic power grab, thinly disguised as caring concern, and anyone who's still buying it probably also thinks gas prices are high because of 'corporate greed' and not, you know, intentional policy. Maybe next they'll 'recommend' what we eat for breakfast.
