The Whipping Post Take on Noozhawk
CARPINTERIA COUNCIL RACE: TWO WOKE CANDIDATES, ZERO FRESH IDEAS
Noozhawk breathlessly reports on Carpinteria's District 1 council race, conveniently overlooking that both candidates seem to be auditioning for the same uninspired role.

Power & PoliticsIt seems Carpinteria voters are being offered a thrilling choice this fall: incumbent Monica Solórzano, a UCSB bureaucrat, versus challenger Aja Forner, who manages therapy dogs. While Noozhawk dutifully chronicles their 'strong community roots' – which, translated, likely means they know the best organic kale smoothies in town – the discerning observer can't help but notice the profound lack of actual distinction between the two.
One works at an institution renowned for its progressive echo chamber, the other champions canines as emotional support. Both, we’re sure, are deeply concerned about bicycle lanes and plastic straw bans. It’s almost as if Carpinteria's progressive political machine carefully cultivated two candidates who would guarantee the continued triumph of incremental stagnation, regardless of who actually wins. The only real drama appears to be whether the council chambers will be scented with patchouli or lavender come January.
What Noozhawk missed, in its eagerness to celebrate 'community roots,' is the striking absence of any candidate proposing to, say, cut taxes, reduce regulatory burdens on small businesses, or — gasp! — question the relentless creep of environmental mandates that stifle growth and make housing unaffordable. Instead, we get a choice between two sides of the same eco-friendly, feel-good, tax-and-spend coin. Perhaps the therapy dogs are actually for the voters, who will need comfort after another four years of this.
This isn't an election; it's a meticulously staged puppet show designed to give the illusion of choice while ensuring the same tired agenda marches on. The only thing stronger than their 'community roots' is the grip of the local progressive establishment on Carpinteria's municipal destiny. Perhaps a third candidate, one who actually understood fiscal responsibility and individual liberty, would have spiced things up. But that, dear reader, would be far too disruptive for the placid waters of District 1.
