BOOM! SUPERVISORS SPEND ANOTHER HALF-MILLION ON 'FEELINGS' FOR KIDS!

Santa Barbara County Supervisors rubber-stamp a $400,000 bump for out-of-county 'mental health services,' proving taxpayer dollars are a bottomless pit for fuzzy feelings.

BOOM! SUPERVISORS SPEND ANOTHER HALF-MILLION ON 'FEELINGS' FOR KIDS!Follow the Money
SB County Board of Supervisors · The Whipping Post · NO.943 · PANEL 5/6 · SB-2OQ

Your perpetually generous Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, in their infinite wisdom and boundless capacity for spending other people's money, have done it again. This time, they've decided that a cool $400,000 more — on top of the millions already flowing — should be dispatched to Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families. Apparently, our local youth are in such dire straits that a vendor 60 miles away is the only solution, bypassing any local options for this increasingly lucrative 'mental health' industry.

Now, don't get us wrong, children are precious. But one has to wonder, with all the millions already budgeted, are we really getting $6 million worth of actual results, or just more bureaucratic busywork and 'day treatment intensive services' that sound suspiciously like glorified daycare for adolescents who really just need a good night's sleep and maybe fewer TikToks? It's a question that, predictably, no one on the Board seems interested in asking. They’re too busy approving, ratifying, and authorizing as if their job description reads 'spend, spend, spend.'

The Board's agenda item, bless its heart, even attempts to justify this fiscal merriment by declaring it's 'not a project that is subject to environmental review.' Because, naturally, dumping half a million more into the ethereal realm of 'mental wellness' has absolutely no tangible impact on anything, especially not on the environmental well-being of your wallet. It's truly a marvel how our progressive leaders can always find a loophole for unfettered spending, but can't find their way out of a paper bag when it comes to cutting taxes or streamlining regulations. President Trump's White House would never stand for such fiscal imprudence. Meanwhile, Santa Barbara County keeps cementing its legacy as the ultimate playground for taxpayer-funded 'good intentions' and 'services' from afar. Just another Tuesday in paradise for the politically appointed class.
