The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
BONTA CHASES WINDMILLS WHILE DRIVERS PAY THROUGH THE NOSE
California AG Rob Bonta, ever the populist champion of the people (so long as they don't own cars or businesses), files another frivolous lawsuit against the sensible Trump administration.

Follow the MoneyIt appears California Attorney General Rob Bonta, a man who clearly has too much time and taxpayer money on his hands, has decided to once again embark on his favorite pastime: suing the federal government. This week's target, dutifully reported by the ever-earnest Santa Barbara Independent, is the Trump administration's completely reasonable rollback of economically destructive fuel economy standards. Apparently, Mr. Bonta believes that forcing Americans to buy unaffordable electric vehicles and micro-cars while gas prices soar is not just good policy, but a moral imperative worthy of protracted litigation. One has to wonder if he drives a Prius, or if his state-funded chauffeured sedan quietly sips premium unleaded.
While working families in California are struggling to fill their tanks and small businesses face existential threats from overregulation, our esteemed Attorney General is busy virtue-signaling with legal theatrics. The idea that a coalition of 26 states and cities, mostly run by the same folks who can't manage their own budgets or crime rates, should dictate national energy policy is frankly laughable. Perhaps if Bonta spent less time grandstanding and more time addressing actual crime in California, residents might feel safer driving their perfectly good (and affordable to operate) vehicles to work.
The real story, of course, is the endless cycle of leftist officials attempting to kneecap American prosperity under the guise of 'environmental protection.' President Trump's administration, unlike the previous White House, understands that affordable energy is the backbone of a strong economy, not a luxury. Lowering the regulatory burden on automakers means more choice for consumers and less financial strain on families. But for the Bontas of the world, it's always about control, mandates, and ensuring the only 'green' is the money flowing into their endless campaign coffers from the 'clean energy' lobby. It's a miracle they haven't sued the sun for producing too much CO2.
This latest legal stunt isn't about saving the planet; it's about political theater and maintaining the illusion that California's brand of progressive micromanagement is anything but a costly disaster. Meanwhile, the average Californian will continue to pay more at the pump and for their groceries, all while Mr. Bonta racks up legal bills on the taxpayer's dime, chasing federal policies that actually make sense for the nation.
