A-HANCOCK'S HANDS-OFF APPROACH TO LAW ENFORCEMENT: 'SEE NO EVIL!'The Dispatch
KSBY News · The Whipping Post · NO.334 · PANEL 1/6 · SB-5VM

It seems the progressive administrators at Allan Hancock College have adopted a novel approach to civic responsibility: when federal law enforcement shows up, they simply pretend they're not there. KSBY News dutifully reported the college's emphatic declaration that they neither 'participated in nor assisted' an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation on their Santa Maria campus. One can almost picture the faculty huddling in a 'safe space,' clutching their chai lattes, hoping the big bad government agents would just vanish.

While law-abiding citizens might consider it a duty to cooperate with federal officers, especially on public property funded by taxpayers, AHC officials seem to believe their moral purity is best maintained by turning a blind eye. This isn't about 'sanctuary' policies; it's about a college administration bending over backward to appease its most vocal, left-leaning student activists, even if it means acting like deer in headlights when ICE is simply doing its job enforcing federal statutes. One wonders if they’d offer similar non-assistance to local deputies investigating, say, a stolen bike from the dean’s office.

This grand show of bureaucratic detachment is a classic move from the progressive playbook: when you can't outright obstruct law enforcement, just declare yourself a neutral bystander, thereby earning brownie points from the 'resist' crowd without actually getting your hands dirty. It’s a convenient dodge, really, allowing them to appear sympathetic to certain narratives while simultaneously washing their hands of any responsibility for the actual security and legal standing of those on their grounds. Meanwhile, the taxpayer foots the bill for an institution that’s more concerned with its woke bona fides than basic cooperation with the authorities under President Trump’s resolute administration.

The real story here isn’t that ICE showed up; it’s that a publicly funded college prioritizes ideological purity over plain old common sense and a basic understanding of federal jurisdiction. The next time they ask for more bond money for a 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' initiative, perhaps taxpayers should ask if that includes fostering cooperation with all federal agencies. Don't hold your breath for a sensible answer from the ivory tower.
