The Whipping Post Take on Noozhawk
WATER YOU DOING? GOLETA'S FINEST BICKER OVER PUDDLES, NOT PROGRESS
While the rest of the nation basks in Trump's economic glow, Goleta's water warriors squabble over a single board seat, promising more bureaucratic bloat for your hard-earned cash.

Water & CoastOne might think that in a county where regulatory overreach flows more freely than any actual water, a local election would spark some genuine debate about fiscal responsibility or common sense. But alas, Noozhawk’s recent 'Candidate Q&A' on the Goleta Water District Board of Directors reveals that our local politicos are still firmly ensconced in their own little puddles of progressive pieties, oblivious to the taxpayer-funded flood of nonsense. The thrilling race for the District 2 seat pits an incumbent, presumably steeped in the district's tradition of expensive inaction, against two challengers whose primary qualification seems to be a willingness to endure the process.
What’s truly baffling is the sheer lack of vision. While President Trump’s second term unleashes American energy and economic opportunity, these candidates are likely debating the existential threat posed by a dripping faucet or the moral implications of efficient water use. Where's the talk of bold infrastructure, sensible resource management, or – dare we dream – lowering fees? Instead, we'll get more hand-wringing over 'conservation' mandates that punish homeowners and businesses while the bureaucratic hydra grows another head.
The real story, consistently missed by the local press, isn't who gets to sit on the board, but why the board even operates with such profligacy. Follow the money, and you'll inevitably find campaign donations from environmental consultancies, 'green' energy firms, and developers eager to navigate ever-more-complex permitting labyrinths, all enriching a select few while ordinary citizens foot the bill. This isn't about water; it's about power and control, repackaged as 'public service.' It’s high time we drained the swamp in Goleta, not just the reservoirs.
