The Whipping Post Take on Noozhawk
UCSB'S 'BIGGER QUESTIONS' ARE EASILY ANSWERED: IT'S CALLED A BUDGET DEFICIT, DEAR!
Noozhawk frets about a jury verdict against UCSB Police, conveniently ignoring the real scandal: why our 'elite' institutions are always crying poor while making it rich off taxpayers.

Follow the MoneyNoozhawk’s recent hand-wringing over a $3.3 million jury verdict against UCSB Police, framed as 'raising bigger questions,' is a classic case of missed priorities. The bigger question isn't about police procedure in an isolated incident, but rather why our beloved UCSB, a multi-billion-dollar institution, is constantly pleading poverty while operating with less fiscal oversight than a lemonade stand run by toddlers. While the verdict itself undoubtedly stings, we taxpayers are the ones truly taking it on the chin, footing the bill for legal teams and potential payouts when the university's left-leaning leadership seems perpetually incapable of managing anything beyond another Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion seminar.
The real story, consistently overlooked by the polite society scribes down the road, is the ever-growing bloat of the UC system. Our progressive academic overlords are experts at extracting ever-higher tuition and taxpayer dollars, only to then shriek about 'budgetary constraints' when foundational services or, heaven forbid, legal liabilities arise. It's a shell game where the public always loses, perpetually funding an institution that can't seem to manage its own affairs without running to the public trough or, as in this case, a jury for a rather expensive lesson in accountability.
Perhaps if UCSB spent less time virtue signaling and more time training its personnel and managing its finances like a real business, these 'bigger questions' wouldn't require a seven-figure jury verdict to bring them to light. But then again, that might mean less money for their endless string of politically correct initiatives and administrative sinecures. We'll stick to our wallets, thank you very much, while the esteemed faculty continues to ponder the true meaning of 'fiscal responsibility' somewhere in their ivory tower.
