TAX INCREASES DISGUISED AS 'SALARY PLAN' FOR COUNTY BUREAUCRATS

Your hard-earned cash is once again being reallocated by the Board of Supervisors to pad the pockets of unelected officials and union bosses, all under the guise of administrative 'housekeeping.'

TAX INCREASES DISGUISED AS 'SALARY PLAN' FOR COUNTY BUREAUCRATSFollow the Money
SB County Board of Supervisors · The Whipping Post · NO.516 · PANEL 6/6 · SB-1KR

It appears the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, in their infinite wisdom, is once again demonstrating how utterly disconnected they are from the financial realities facing actual taxpayers. Their latest agenda item reads like a doctoral thesis in bureaucratic bloat, proposing a 'Classification and Salary Plan' for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 that translates directly into more of your money funneled into the sprawling county apparatus. They're not just discussing raises; they're creating a labyrinthine system of 'position allocation changes' and 'amendments to compensation and benefits' for management and, naturally, their favorite union pals at SEIU Local 620.

This isn't about ensuring competitive wages for essential services; it's about expanding the administrative state, plain and simple. While you're budgeting for soaring gas prices (thanks, Sacramento's 'green' policies!), the county's unelected executives are getting their 'Compensation and Benefits Plan' conveniently amended, not once, but *five* times since 2024. And let's not forget the perfectly timed 'side letter' with the union, updating job titles, which we can all bet isn't a cost-cutting measure. It's a classic example of the left-leaning establishment taking care of its own, ensuring the patronage network thrives on the backs of productive citizens.

The real kicker? They've determined these actions are 'not projects under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA),' because they're merely 'government administrative or fiscal activities.' Oh, how convenient! When it's a new road or housing for working families, CEQA is a weapon to grind progress to a halt. But when it's about increasing the public payroll and shuffling titles to justify higher salaries for the bureaucratic class, suddenly it's 'not a physical change in the environment.' The only change we'll see is a lighter wallet and a heavier county budget, while the Supervisors pretend to be fiscally responsible.

This is the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, folks, perpetually perfecting the art of turning tax dollars into administrative overhead. Our crack team at The Whipping Post suspects that somewhere in this verbose document is a quiet line item for 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' consultants or, perhaps, a new 'Climate Czar' position that will do absolutely nothing for the climate but cost a fortune. It’s always the quiet lines that tell the loudest tales of waste.
