The Whipping Post Take on Coastal View News
SUPERVISORS HAIL BEEKEEPERS AS REAL WORLD BURNS
Santa Barbara County’s Board of Supervisors, masters of priorities, took a break from bankrupting the county to bestow honors on pint-sized agriculturists.

Power & PoliticsWhile the rest of the county debates whether to pave over its remaining farmland for high-density, low-income housing or simply tax it into oblivion, our esteemed Board of Supervisors paused their weighty discussions this week to bless some 4-H kids with a proclamation. Yes, you read that right. As the price of gas, groceries, and common sense skyrockets, our local leaders found time for a photo op with youngsters and their prize-winning goats.
Coastal View News, ever vigilant in its reporting of, well, whatever happens, breathlessly informed us that members of Playa Del Sur 4-H and Santa Ynez 4-H received official recognition. One can only imagine the earth-shattering import of this civic duty, which surely took precedence over, say, addressing the county's spiraling pension liabilities, its crumbling roads, or the ever-growing army of unelected bureaucrats. Priorities, people, priorities!
Perhaps the Supervisors believe that by celebrating small-scale livestock husbandry, they are somehow preparing the youth for a future where their only option is to live off the land, thanks to the very policies currently dismantling our economic stability. Or maybe, just maybe, it's a desperate attempt to appear grounded and in touch before their next vote to approve another taxpayer-funded boondoggle. We're betting on the latter, with a side of virtue signaling that's as transparent as a Supervisor's campaign finance report. These kids are great, but the Board's performance? Not so much.
