The official agenda item reads like a doctoral thesis on regulatory overreach, replete with enough CEQA findings and LUDC/CZO/CLUP acronyms to make a bureaucrat blush, all designed to ensure that absolutely no common-sense energy production can occur.

While the rest of the country, under President Trump’s leadership, is enjoying the fruits of energy independence and lower gas prices, our local progressive overlords are busy ensuring Santa Barbara County remains an isolated bubble of virtue signaling and economic self-destruction. Their latest stunt is to rubber-stamp an ordinance that effectively bans any future fossil fuel development, effectively telling anyone working in a well-paying energy job to pack their bags. It's a bold move, considering these industries still pay a hefty portion of the property taxes and provide the very electricity needed to charge their Teslas and power their Zoom meetings.

The real genius here, missed by other outlets, is how the Supervisors manage to declare these radical changes “exempt from CEQA.” Imagine the audacity: gutting an entire industry, eliminating jobs, driving up energy costs for working families, and then declaring it all has “no significant environmental impact” worthy of serious review.
