SUPERVISORS CLIMATE ALLIANCE: ANOTHER TAXPAYER-FUNDED HUG-IN?

It appears the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, in their infinite wisdom, have found yet another 'problem' to throw your hard-earned money at: a "Local Government Climate Alliance." This, according to their recent agenda item, is an urgent matter of organizational housekeeping, completely devoid of any real-world impact, per their breezy dismissal of environmental review.

Because nothing screams fiscal responsibility and efficient governance quite like paying dues to a new club for bureaucrats to pat each other on the back about 'climate action' while simultaneously exempting themselves from environmental scrutiny. We're assured this is just an "organizational or administrative activity" that won't result in any "direct or indirect physical changes in the environment." In other words, it's a paper-pushing exercise designed to make everyone feel good about doing absolutely nothing concrete, except perhaps adding another glossy brochure to the county archives.

One has to wonder what deep, dark secrets the other local outlets are missing. Perhaps this 'Alliance' is less about the climate and more about expanding the burgeoning administrative state, creating new sinecures, and securing more grants from the feds – specifically from the 'green' slush funds that the former Biden regime so generously sprayed around. It’s a convenient way to bring in more dollars for more studies, more committees, and more pronouncements that sound important but accomplish precisely zip for the average taxpayer struggling with gas prices and regulations.

While real Santa Barbara County residents are trying to keep their lights on and their businesses afloat, our Supervisors are busy joining a new club dedicated to 'climate.' It’s a classic move: spend money on performative activism, ignore the actual energy needs of the community, and then declare victory on a spreadsheet. Don't worry, though; they've deemed this entire bureaucratic endeavor as having no environmental impact. So much for walking the talk, eh? It’s almost as if the whole point is to look busy without actually changing anything that might inconvenience their progressive agenda, or heaven forbid, actually produce energy.
