STATE DOLE DUMP: ADDIS ANNOUNCES $32M FROM YOUR WALLET, FOR HER PALATE

It seems KSBY News has once again fallen for the oldest trick in the political playbook: announcing that politicians are 'bringing home the bacon' when they’re actually just redistributing the bacon they first looted from your piggy bank. Assemblymember Dawn Addis is positively giddy, reportedly 'securing' nearly $32 million for 'Central Coast programs and projects' as part of California's 2026-27 state budget. What a hero! Apparently, the state treasury just had these millions lying around, waiting for a progressive savior to 'secure' them for us yokels.

Of course, 'securing' in Sacramento-speak actually means 'convincing fellow travelers to vote to spend more of your money,' preferably on things that sound good in a press release but do little to fix the Golden State's self-inflicted wounds. While we’re sure a few of these 'programs' might actually involve something useful, the vast majority are likely to be classic California boondoggles: climate initiatives that cost a fortune and achieve nothing, 'equity' consultants making six figures to tell us what we already know, or endless studies on how to make bike lanes even less practical. Don't forget the obligatory 'affordable housing' slush funds, which somehow only ever produce outrageously expensive 'affordable' units that still require a king's ransom to live in.

The real story KSBY missed, as usual, is that this isn't free money from the sky. This $32 million represents taxes YOU paid, often taken from struggling families and small businesses, now being funneled through the Sacramento bureaucratic maw, losing significant chunks to administrative bloat and well-connected contractors before it ever 'benefits' anyone. It’s the classic state government shuffle: take a dollar, return a dime, and call it a win. And just wait until we find out which campaign donors or politically connected non-profits mysteriously landed these lucrative new 'projects.' The smell of pork is thicker than the fog off the coast.

So, while our Assemblymember pats herself on the back for 'securing' money, let’s remember who earned it in the first place, and who will ultimately pay the price for this latest bout of performative fiscal generosity. Maybe next time, instead of 'securing' more of our money, she could 'secure' some reforms that stop Sacramento from taking so much of it in the first place. But that would actually be conservative, and we can’t have that, can we?
