SHERIFF'S SCANDAL GROWS: IT'S ALWAYS THE 'SYSTEM' WHEN DEMS ARE CAUGHT!

Well, bless our little cotton socks! The Lompoc Record, in its tireless pursuit of... well, *something*, has graced us with news of yet another Santa Barbara County Sheriff's custody sergeant getting cuffed for alleged timecard tomfoolery. That’s right, folks, a *second* one. One might start to think that the 'systemic issues' these bureaucrats always wring their hands over are, in fact, entirely within their own departments.

It appears our fine county government, under the ever-watchful eye of its progressive leadership, has developed a knack for allowing taxpayer dollars to evaporate into thin air, or, in this case, into the pockets of employees who apparently confuse 'overtime' with 'more time for me.' While our esteemed Supervisors are busy crafting pronouncements on climate change and banning perfectly good gas stoves, actual fiscal responsibility seems to have taken an extended lunch break, never to return.

One has to wonder if this is merely a symptom of a larger disease. When accountability takes a backseat to virtue signaling, and department heads are too busy attending diversity workshops to actually run their shops, these 'minor' administrative oversights become inevitable. Perhaps, instead of hiring more 'equity consultants,' the county could invest in, say, a functional payroll system or, dare we suggest, actual supervision?

But fear not, citizens! We're sure another blue-ribbon committee will be formed, more 'studies' will be commissioned at great expense, and ultimately, a few low-level scapegoats will be offered up while the grand architects of this fiscal disarray continue to collect their generous pensions. It's the Santa Barbara way!
