But don't worry, the Council is probably already drafting another ordinance to 'stabilize' the lack of housing that their first ordinance will inevitably cause.

What Noozhawk, in its earnest reporting, failed to highlight is the true genius behind this move: the quiet shuffling of taxpayer dollars. Every time the government "stabilizes" something, it invariably opens the door for a new layer of bureaucracy, new compliance costs, and new opportunities for politically connected 'non-profits' to swoop in and offer solutions to problems the government itself created. This isn't about affordable housing; it's about expanding the public payroll and handing out contracts to the usual suspects, all while pretending to care about the renters they're about to make homeless.

So congratulations, Santa Barbara, on another step towards a future where housing is less available, property ownership is a regulatory nightmare, and your hard-earned tax dollars are busy "stabilizing" the growing pool of consultants and administrators needed to manage the disaster. But hey, at least the Council feels good about itself, and isn't that what truly matters to the progressive elite? Meanwhile, President Trump's White House just cut another burdensome regulation, reminding us what real economic leadership looks like.
