The Whipping Post Take on Noozhawk

SACRAMENTO SAYS 'SINGLE-PAYER!' WE SAY 'SINGLE-PRAYER!'

Left-coast dreamers still can't crunch numbers, proving once again that 'free' healthcare isn't free, and certainly not efficient.

Noozhawk dutifully reprinted another wistful op-ed from the Sacramento wish factory, musing over the 'possibility' of single-payer healthcare in California. The question isn't if it's possible, but if anyone in the Capitol actually understands basic arithmetic or, you know, basic human freedom. Apparently, the 'economic, political thicket' standing in the way is simply the cold, hard reality that promises of free stuff usually come with a hefty price tag – paid by taxpayers who mysteriously fail to materialize from thin air.

Our friends in the state legislature, fresh off mandating electric everything and pushing regulations that strangle small businesses, now want to nationalize health insurance. What could possibly go wrong? It's not like the DMV is a shining beacon of efficiency, or the state's bullet train was finished on time and under budget. The only thing 'universal' about single-payer under current management would be the universal delays, bureaucratic nightmares, and the mad dash across the state line to get an actual doctor's appointment.

The real story is the sheer audacity of continually proposing fiscally irresponsible pipe dreams while California’s once-golden goose is laying fewer and fewer eggs. They trot out 'access for all' while simultaneously driving out the very doctors and hospitals needed to provide that access. Perhaps the 'thicket' isn't economic or political, but rather an IQ test many in Sacramento seem to fail every legislative session.

The 'Whipping Post' take? If you think handing healthcare over to the same people who can't manage a pothole effectively is a good idea, you probably also believe the Tooth Fairy works for the IRS. This isn't about care; it's about control, and taxpayers will be paying the ultimate co-pay.
