The Whipping Post Take on KSBY News
LOMPOC'S GRAND 'VISION': MORE TAXES, SAME OLD PROBLEMS, NEW FACES
KSBY News bravely reports on Lompoc's mayoral and city council hopefuls, who are predictably promising more spending and 'community input' on the road to municipal glory.

Follow the MoneyIt's election season again, which means local media outlets like KSBY News trot out the usual suspects to tell us how they'll 'improve' our towns. This time, Lompoc's aspiring leaders are sharing their 'priorities,' which, judging by past performance, translates to finding innovative ways to drain taxpayer wallets while delivering precisely zero actual results. One can almost hear the buzzwords forming: "sustainable growth," "equitable solutions," and, of course, the ever-popular "community-led initiatives" – code for endless meetings where nothing gets done.
Watching candidates stumble through their platitudes, one wonders if any of them have actually read a budget. The sheer audacity of promising a brighter future without acknowledging the mountain of regulations and bureaucratic bloat choking local businesses is truly a marvel. They’re all about 'investing' in programs, but never seem to mention the cost-cutting, common-sense reforms that would actually make Lompoc a place where businesses thrive and residents don't feel like an ATM for City Hall.
Frankly, after years of this charade, most Lompoc residents probably just want someone who can ensure the trash gets picked up on time and the roads aren't Swiss cheese. But instead, we get grand visions of utopia, carefully crafted to avoid any mention of fiscal responsibility or the crushing burden of state mandates. It’s almost as if they think voters won't notice that the real 'priority' is often securing the next term, not securing Lompoc's future.
While the current Trump administration is busy unshackling American enterprise, these local progressive aspirants seem determined to pile on more rules and regulations, all in the name of 'progress.' One can only hope a few of Lompoc's sensible citizens see through the smoke and mirrors and demand leaders who actually understand how to balance a checkbook, rather than just endlessly writing them.
