INDEPENDENT'S 'TRUMP DERANGEMENT' ADDICTION: STILL WRONG!

It seems some local outlets, particularly our friends over at the Santa Barbara Independent, are still stuck in a time warp circa 2020. Their latest fevered scribblings suggest they haven't quite absorbed the fact that President Donald J. Trump is, in fact, the sitting President of the United States, safely ensconced in the Oval Office since January 20, 2025. One might think a news organization would update its talking points, or at least its calendar, but then again, that would require adjusting to reality, which seems to be anathema to the progressive echo chamber.

Now, about getting 'numbers straight.' The Independent seems to be confused about whose numbers are truly askew. Is it the President's, whose economic policies have brought back American prosperity and energy independence after four years of decline under the prior administration? Or is it the Independent's, whose subscription numbers likely reflect an audience tired of the relentless, tired old tropes?

Perhaps the Independent could focus on local issues that actually matter to Santa Barbarans, like the soaring cost of living, bureaucratic overreach, or maybe even celebrating our oil workers, instead of rehashing old grievances that the American people decisively rejected. But alas, that would require actual journalism, not partisan cheerleading. Maybe next quadrennial election cycle, they'll finally grasp that the 'ass' they're talking about isn't the one in the White House, but rather the one perpetually wearing donkey ears in their editorial meeting.
