The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
INDEPENDENT'S LATEST WHINE: CRYING OVER 'GUNS OVER KIDS' WHILE IGNORING REAL THREATS
Santa Barbara Independent's blurb bemoans children's treatment, cleverly sidestepping how their preferred policies actually put kids last, as usual.

The DispatchThe Santa Barbara Independent, never one to miss an opportunity to trot out worn-out platitudes, has graced us with another heart-wrenching blurb titled 'Guns over Kids.' Their profound insight? Children are 'innocent and vulnerable members of society' whose treatment is 'a good measure of a nation’s justice and humanity.' Deep stuff, really. It's almost as if they've never encountered a single woke school board meeting or seen the curriculum being pushed in our public schools, which, let's be honest, would make actual 'guns over kids' seem like a walk in the park.
One might think a publication so concerned with the 'vulnerability' of children would, for instance, question why our county leaders keep funneling taxpayer dollars into programs that do more to indoctrinate than educate, or why they seem utterly unconcerned with the surging cost of living that makes raising a family here an economic impossibility for anyone not employed by the county itself. But no, it's always the inanimate objects that get the blame, never the policies cooked up by the very folks the Independent usually champions as enlightened.
Perhaps if these editorialists spent less time pontificating about 'justice and humanity' and more time scrutinizing the actual budgets and mandates passed down from Sacramento and our local Supervisors – you know, the ones that prioritize pet projects and endless bureaucratic bloat over fundamental safety and sanity – they might find the true threats to our children’s well-being. But that would require actual investigative journalism, not just virtue-signaling over a blurb. It's almost as if some people truly believe that disarming law-abiding citizens is the real solution to societal woes, rather than, say, focusing on intact families, personal responsibility, or effective law enforcement. Silly us for thinking common sense still applies.
