The Whipping Post Take on Santa Barbara Independent
ICE, ICE, BABY, IT’S A FREE CRIME! ACTIVIST’S TIRE-SLASHING CAUSE CELEBRE GOES POOF!
Another 'justice' served in sunny Santa Barbara, where 'activism' trumps felony charges and property rights are but a suggestion for the politically favored.

Well, butter our biscuits and call us shocked! The Santa Barbara Independent, ever the bastion of hard-hitting news (when it's not fawning over organic kale or electric bike paths), breathlessly reported that charges against local 'activist' Jack Randmaa for allegedly deflating a government vehicle's tire have, shall we say, evaporated. Seems that 'depredation against property of the United States' is just a fancy way of saying 'oopsie-doodle' when you've got the right ideological wind beneath your wings.
One has to wonder if mere mortals, perhaps a hardworking plumber with a bad temper or a disgruntled taxpayer, would enjoy such a swift and quiet dismissal for similar acts of vehicular sabotage. But then, they wouldn't have the Independent's eager reporters ready to lionize their 'plight' or the collective sigh of relief from the local progressive gentry who seem to believe federal property is fair game if it belongs to an agency they've deemed problematic. It’s almost as if some laws are more suggestions than actual, you know, laws, especially when the perp's heart is in the 'right' place.
This isn't just about a tire; it's about the ever-widening chasm in our justice system where political virtue signaling often outweighs actual legal precedent. Our bet? Had this been an indignant conservative deflating the tires of, say, a city council member's Tesla during an affordable housing debate, the handcuffs would've been tighter, and the charges would've stuck faster than a protest banner on a historic building. But hey, it's Santa Barbara, where 'activism' is often just a rebranded excuse for selective law enforcement.
So, while the Independent dusts off its hands, declaring victory for 'the people,' we're left scratching our heads, wondering when ordinary citizens will get the same 'activist' discount on their own run-ins with the law. Perhaps we should all just start identifying as 'activists' before committing any infractions. It seems to be the golden ticket out of trouble these days, especially when the target is a federal agent and the local media is cheering you on.
