Their recent expose, boldly titled 'Bribes,' delves into the scandalous notion that offering relief at the gas pump—you know, that place where most of us are currently being fleeced—is somehow a nefarious act.

Now, for those of us who recall when filling up didn't require a second mortgage, the idea of a politician actually *doing something* to alleviate pain at the pump might sound, dare we say, refreshing? But not for the Indy. They prefer their politicians to remain ideologically pure, even if it means watching constituents drain their savings to commute to their ever-shrinking paychecks. So while the Independent frets over potential 'bribes,' the rest of us might just call it 'not being completely out of touch with reality.' Perhaps their editorial board should try filling up a suburban family’s SUV sometime; it might just provide them with a novel perspective that doesn't involve scoffing at the idea of helping people afford to live.
