FIN-ALLY! MORE BUREAUCRATIC BARRIERS TO FUN & FREEDOM! (OR FISH)The Dispatch
Noozhawk · The Whipping Post · NO.395 · PANEL 5/6 · SB-7LK

It appears the California Fish & Game Commission, a body seemingly dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to restrict human activity, is once again casting its net of bureaucratic overreach. This week, they're dragging Santa Barbara County into their latest regulatory eddy, pondering more 'marine protected areas' because, apparently, the ocean just isn't oppressed enough by all that pesky freedom and prosperity. The folks over at Noozhawk, ever vigilant in reporting on fresh ways the state can meddle, dutifully informed us of these new petitions, which are, naturally, 'tribally led' — a convenient shield against any rational questioning.

One can almost hear the excited gasps from the state capitol: 'More rules! More red tape! More opportunities to tell people what they can't do!' It's a miracle California hasn't declared the entire Pacific Ocean a 'safe space' for phytoplankton, effectively banning all maritime activity unless it's a taxpayer-funded scientific expedition to count kelp. These 'protected areas' are rarely about actual protection and always about control, cloaked in feel-good environmentalism that conveniently ignores the economic livelihoods of fishermen and the critical energy needs of our nation.

Meanwhile, President Trump and VP Vance are busy securing our energy independence and bolstering the economy, while California's progressive overlords are still debating if a fish needs a gender-neutral bathroom. These expansions, sold as enhancing marine life, do little more than restrict access for local industries, push up prices at the seafood counter, and hand more power to unelected commissions whose members likely commute in electric cars charged by power generated somewhere else. The only thing truly endangered here is common sense.
