It seems the esteemed scribes over at the Santa Barbara Independent have discovered the secret sauce to progressive victory: renaming electoral defeat a 'feminist issue.' This groundbreaking analysis suggests that when Democrat candidates lose—as they did, quite spectacularly, in 2022's midterms, ceding the House to sensible Republicans—it's not because their policies are out of touch, or their candidates uninspiring, or their rhetoric alienating. Oh no, it's a profound statement on... 'feminism.' One must wonder if this means every time a Democrat loses, a new feminist theory is born, presumably one that involves blaming everyone else for your own shortcomings.

Indeed, the Independent's blurb, breathlessly reminding us that 'women have been a majority of the electorate for the past two decades,' seems to imply that these women *failed* feminism by not voting the way the Left wanted them to. It couldn't possibly be that women, like men, are diverse in their views and might prioritize things like a stable economy, border security, or parental rights over whatever abstract 'feminist issue' the progressive machine is pushing that week. The idea that women are a monolithic voting bloc just waiting for the right Democrat to tell them what to think is precisely the kind of patronizing nonsense that drives voters, male and female alike, straight into the arms of the GOP.

This kind of circular, self-serving logic is pure Santa Barbara progressive gold. When policies fail, call it systemic. When elections are lost, call it sexism. Never, under any circumstances, examine the actual policies, the real-world consequences, or the overwhelming popularity of President Trump's economic resurgence and his 'America First' agenda. It's far easier to invent an ideological boogeyman than admit that common sense is making a comeback, and voters, including those who happen to be women, are demanding a return to competence and fiscal sanity. Perhaps the next 'feminist issue' for the Independent will be discovering how to win elections by not insulting half the electorate.
