DRUG BUST! OR... JUST A SLOW TUESDAY FOR CALIFORNIA’S CARTEL ENABLERS?

We here at The Whipping Post must ask: was this a bust, or just Tuesday in a state where porous borders and soft-on-crime policies have made drug running practically a municipal enterprise?

One almost has to applaud the sheer dedication of law enforcement for wading through the reams of red tape and progressive hand-wringing to actually enforce a law. $220,000 worth of cocaine? 'Thousands of dollars' in cash? 'Dozens of firearms'? For California, that’s barely a down payment on a state-mandated gender-neutral composting toilet. Meanwhile, across the state, our southern border continues to operate as an open-air Amazon delivery service for cartels, facilitated by an administration in D.C. that seems more interested in virtue signaling than securing the nation.

While the local authorities should be commended for their diligence, the real story here isn’t that a few bad guys got caught. It’s that this small-time operation is likely a single drop in the ocean of illicit trade flowing freely into our communities thanks to the intentional policy choices of the left. This isn't a victory; it's a reminder of how much further our public safety has eroded. Perhaps if progressive DAs and judges spent less time releasing career criminals and more time prosecuting them, we wouldn't need 'lengthy' investigations to nab what should be a routine arrest.

It’s almost as if the powers-that-be want to give the impression they're 'doing something' while ensuring the underlying issues, which benefit certain shadowy special interests and maintain a cycle of dependency, are never truly addressed. The only surprise is that they managed to find an empty jail cell for these ten, given how quickly they usually clear them out for the next ‘non-violent offender’ program.
