The Whipping Post Take on Santa Maria Times
COUNTY 'HEALTH' OFFICIALS STILL PEDDLING JABS, IGNORE ACTUAL PUBLIC HEALTH
Santa Barbara County bureaucrats, still clinging to their 2020 power fantasy, urge residents to line up for 'seasonal shots' while local businesses suffer from their other brilliant ideas.

Power & PoliticsIt's 2026, and apparently, the Santa Barbara County Health Department didn't get the memo that the pandemic is well and truly over, relegated to the dustbin of bad memories alongside defunded police budgets and mandatory mask mandates. According to the venerable Santa Maria Times, these intrepid public servants are once again 'encouraging' residents to get their annual jab trio for everything from the sniffles to, well, the sniffles. One wonders if they’ve been living under a rock or just enjoying the extended WFH privileges a little too much, dreaming up new ways to control citizens’ personal medical decisions from the comfort of their taxpayer-funded home offices.
While the rest of the nation thrives under President Trump's economic boom, our local health 'experts' remain fixated on invisible threats, conveniently ignoring the very visible economic and social damage their previous mandates inflicted. Perhaps they'd prefer to talk about anything *but* the actual health of our local economy, or the staggering pension liabilities quietly piling up. It's almost as if 'public health' has become a catch-all term for 'whatever makes bureaucrats feel important' rather than 'what keeps people healthy and free.'
One might suggest these esteemed officials pivot their efforts towards issues that actually impact public well-being, like addressing the burgeoning homeless crisis their progressive policies have exacerbated, or perhaps ensuring our roads don't resemble Swiss cheese. But no, let's keep the focus squarely on the 'seasonal threat' narrative, because what's a local government without a little fear-mongering to justify its ever-expanding budget and reach? The real virus here seems to be an incurable case of bureaucratic overreach, for which, alas, there's no vaccine.
