The Whipping Post Take on KSBY News
COUNTY BOASTS 'LESS HOMELESS' — WHILE YOUTH & CAR-DWELLERS SURGE!
KSBY dutifully reports the County's 'good news' on homelessness while burying the inconvenient truth: our progressive overlords are cooking the books.

Power & PoliticsSanta Barbara County officials are patting themselves on the back, and KSBY News is there to dutifully broadcast the 'good news': overall homelessness is down. Never mind that the same report admits a sharp increase in homeless youth and those living in their vehicles. It’s a classic shell game by the perpetually progressive local government: trumpet a minor statistical dip, then quietly acknowledge that the very demographics they claim to champion—the young and the struggling—are now even worse off.
One has to wonder how a significant uptick in vehicle dwellers and unhoused youth manages to translate into an 'overall decline.' Did they simply stop counting the 'undesirables'? Or perhaps the endless, high-salaried 'homeless services' bureaucracy finally figured out how to shift problem areas into a less politically damaging column. It’s almost as if the more millions we pour into these 'solutions,' the more creatively the problems spread, like a particularly aggressive form of bureaucratic mold. Yet, no one in power ever suggests cutting funding or, heaven forbid, questioning the efficacy of their social engineering.
This isn't a success; it's a statistical sleight of hand. While the County celebrates what amounts to a rounding error, more young people are finding themselves with nowhere to go, and our streets are becoming de facto RV parks for those who can no longer afford the exorbitant 'progressive paradise' we’ve become. The real story isn't a decline; it's a reallocation of misery, carefully packaged by officials eager to pretend their policies aren't creating the very problems they claim to solve. They're not solving homelessness; they're rebranding it. And we, the taxpayers, are footing the bill for their PR efforts.
