COMMIE-FORNIA HOUSING CZARS WHINE ABOUT RENT CONTROL AFTER CREATING HOUSING CRISIS

It appears Santa Barbara’s Housing Authority, a venerable institution dedicated to housing the masses while simultaneously ensuring nobody can actually afford to live here, is having a bit of a tiff with its own progressive brainchild: rent control. Apparently, even the high priests of social engineering at the Authority are discovering that mandating prices below market value might, just might, impact their ability to operate their publicly funded housing projects. We commend Noozhawk for bravely reporting that water is wet and that government intervention often leads to unintended consequences, or in this case, perfectly predictable ones.

Now, the same folks who cheered on these 'rent stabilization' schemes are clutching their pearls because their own Section 8 and deed-restricted housing might get caught in the dragnet. The sheer audacity! It’s almost as if central planning works wonderfully until it affects your specific central plan. One can practically hear the collective sigh from City Hall as they realize their grand utopian vision needs more carve-outs than a Thanksgiving turkey at a Biden family dinner.

This isn't about housing; it's about control. The Authority, like any good progressive bureaucracy, loves to manage, regulate, and dictate, but when their own operations are crimped by the very regulations they advocate, suddenly it’s a problem. They want to be exempt from the pain they inflict on private property owners, because rules are for little people. Meanwhile, the rest of us get to watch property values plummet, new construction dry up, and the housing crisis, conveniently exacerbated by these very policies, worsen. Bravo, comrades, bravo!
