We here at The Whipping Post were on the edge of our seats, wondering if the progressive parade in Carpinteria would ever pause its march towards mandated kale smoothies and bicycle-only lanes. Apparently not, as the electoral machinery grinds on, offering residents the thrilling opportunity to choose between various shades of coastal-elite green.

The odds are, it'll be another election cycle where the well-connected and well-funded 'community leaders' are pre-ordained, and any true fiscal conservative will be branded a luddite, a climate denier, or worse, someone who questions the unfettered expansion of the municipal payroll.

The real story the Independent missed, as usual, isn't that nominations are open. It's *who* will actually consider running against the entrenched, virtue-signaling machine. Who has the courage to stand for genuine property rights in a town obsessed with open space, or advocate for local businesses struggling under a mountain of ever-growing regulations? Our bet? Not many, but we'll be watching for the brave few who dare to challenge the 'consensus' that's been costing Carpinteria residents their freedoms and their wallets one progressive ordinance at a time.
